I have always been one of those people that constantly thinks about the number of hours they will sleep long before they actually even drift off into a slumber. Ever since I saw an article last year talking about 1.5 hour sleep cycles, I have always tried to get 6, 7.5, or 9 hours of sleep. These always seem to make me the happiest, which 7.5 rating the absolute best, and 9 & 6 leaving me with a tired feeling for just the first few minutes of waking. Is this because I read this article and I am just getting placebo effect, or is this research actually legit?? What is the best number of sleep-hours for my followers and readers??
Also... Does anyone ONLY and I mean ONLY dream with they a)nap or b)fall asleep again after waking up?? It seems like it is an undocumented phenomenon, but it seems to happen to me (and a few of my friends) all the time!!
Sleep is such an interesting subject... (:
i never lknow when it will hit me again. sometimes i dream for ages , sometimes not.
ReplyDeleteSame here, although I do tend to dream a lot more when napping. And yeah, more than 8 hours of sleep and I feel like crap when I get up.
ReplyDeleteNO bueno.
great post. I like it!
ReplyDeleteThe trick is to wake up during stage 1 sleep. If you're having lots of trouble waking up at the sound of the alarm you were probably in stage 4 (very deep sleep). Each sleepcycle takes about 90 minutes, so try to work backwards in 90 minute steps from the moment the alarm will sound to find a good time to go to bed.
ReplyDeletedon't mess with your sleep cycle :P
ReplyDeleteI sleep three hours for every six. Works for me, as I live and work at home. Easy.
ReplyDeleteI sleep maybe seven hours per day. I hope that's healthy. and maybe you just remember dreams more after a short nap.
ReplyDeleteI just sleeep about 6hours per night...sometimes i get damned tired cuz that
ReplyDeleteI aim to get 8hrs of sleep every night but always end up getting more because I just can't wake up after 8hrs... Fail. By the way, thanks for checking out my blog! Be sure to follow! Thanks :)

ReplyDeletewell i sleep 4-5 hours
ReplyDeletesometimes i wake up all broken and sometimes i wake up and dont feel like i slept...
I hardly ever remember my dreams, unless I fall back asleep. I'm sure there's something going on there.
ReplyDeleteI do this every night and try to get 7.5. I seem to overanalyze everything.
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon your blog, gonna follow for sure
Yeah, I only dream when I nap, or when I fall asleep after waking up. I might try those cycles...
ReplyDeleteI never dream.
ReplyDeleteIf you like sleep and dreaming, go see Inception, it will blow u away :)
ReplyDeleteI usually get about 4 hours a night. I used to dream no matter how much I got, but the past month i've had to get at least 6+ to dream, unless I wake up and go back to sleep. Strange.
ReplyDeleteThe reason you think you only dream, when you wake up and fall asleep again, is because you don't remember the dreams you had when you slept.
ReplyDeleteI don't really hav emuch of a constant sleep schedule--but I do the same as you, as far as it involves thinking about how much sleep I'm going to get long before i pass out.
ReplyDeleteinteresting..I want a new post..:)
ReplyDeleteI'll sleep when I die.
ReplyDeleteMy sleep is determined by the work schedule unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI sleep about 4-5 hours during the week. It's impossible for me to get more than that unless its the weekend. Weekends I yield about 9 or 10 hours of sleep (booze helps)
ReplyDeletehaha garfield!!
