1 in 5 Drivers on the Road Will Be Seniors

As boomers age, 1 in 5 drivers will be oldsters

Within the next 15 years, one out of every five drivers will be senior citizens.
The number of miles driven by senior citizens has been growing drastically for quite some time, but the fatal crash rate for this demographic is going down. Interesting, huh?

However, it is said that it is still hard to decide whether or not to let seniors drive as it is a hard choice between the best safety, and the best mobility, along with the harshness of taking away their freedom.

30 million seniors driving today, 57 million by 2030, at least. What should we do, if anything, about this issue??

  1. This is terrifying, lol. I don't really know what you can do to "regulate" the issue... though I think that having drivers testing at least once every 10 or so years once you turn 60 would be good. Keep some of those who have "lost their touch" off the road.

  4. This is the scariest thing I've heard all week. And to make it worse, most seniors drive those big ass Lincoln Towncars or Crown Victorias. They're like freaking tanks!

  5. Oldies are the worst drivers out there, more dangerous than even drunk-drivers I would say.

  8. can't do anything short of requiring license tests...which they already do.

  9. Seniors will always have a certain amount of risk as an unfortunately side effect of aging. Maybe if automatic driving or teleporters were invented, there would be no issue.

  10. Maybe this just means we need to reproduce more. I don't think they took into account a jump in our generation. :)

  11. Shouldn't they have their licenses taken away yet?
